Extra-Special Beds for Special Needs Kids

It should be needless to say that special needs kids deserve as much enjoyment and self-expression in their personal space as every other kid. And yet until recently it's seemed so difficult to find beds for special needs kids that were anything but sterile, utilitarian and ordinary. Fortunately, interior designers are finally starting to catch wind of this glaring need in children's bed design and have begun incorporating elements of fun, playfulness, and fantasy into custom special needs kid's beds.

Parents of special needs kids have complained for years that the only beds available to their children have been cribs and not beds. Not only are special needs cribs expensive and ugly, but they can also be humiliating and disempowering for special needs kids older than toddler age who have enough to work through already without also having a bedroom that makes them feel like they're still an infant. Other past attempts at special needs beds just look like stalls and hospital beds, none of which inspire any sort of delight in the child forced to sleep there.

That's why custom special needs beds are such a welcome and attractive alternative. Now a special needs kid can have a custom castle bed, a custom race car bed, a custom tree house bed, a custom mansion bed, or any other custom fantasy bed they can imagine - just like their friends.

There's no reason, for example, that a child in a wheelchair can't have a custom theme bed befitting his fondest desires that incorporates into it wheelchair access. Beds for special needs kids may also include extra storage space to accommodate all their special child care items. From building materials to access and safety, every element of day-to-day living with a special needs child can be taken into account in the design and building process.

A key element of custom beds for special needs kids is clear visibility between the bed and the rest of the room, allowing parents to keep a close eye on their special needs child with an easy sightline from the bedroom door as well as allowing the child him or herself to see windows, wall murals, a TV, or any other cherished and crucial bedroom item or element directly from his or her bed.

One key aspect of custom theme beds designed for special needs kids is that any objects or devices critical to the child's care can be easily incorporated into the design such that it is camouflaged to fit in with the overall fantasy setting. This allows for all the child's special needs to be taken care of, not least of which is the need to feel "normal" and not have their medical circumstances staring them in the face at every second.

If you're the parent of a special needs kid, why not get them a bed that is both attractive and appealing to them while let at the same time fitting their extra-special needs.

Kids Furniture - Creating a Stimulating Environment for a Kids Bedroom

Parents know that creating a stimulating environment helps kids navigate the path from helplessness to a child capable of entertaining him or herself, exploring the world, and growing in healthy ways, both mentally and physically. Furnishing a child's room is your unique opportunity to create an environment that provides for such growth. This article offers some ideas to use to create a wonderful kid's room.

Combine reality and fantasy in choosing kids bedroom furniture. For small kids, it's a fine line, so make the most of it. Use a combination of small and regular-sized furniture, if possible. Kids love a world sized for them, where they are not constantly reminded of being small. There are wonderful miniature foam sofas and chairs available in colorful, stimulating prints that are not very expensive. A side benefit is their ability to open out for guests, just off the ground, so you will be instantly ready for sleepovers. They are lightweight so they are easy for kids to move around. We found that sleepovers were much easier to handle when we were prepared with the right kind of bedding. Any type of fold-out foam furniture, loungers, or sofa-sleepers will make you instantly prepared.

Rockers are wonderful, but chiefly for Mom and Dad. Beanbag furniture is more comfortable for children and is sized for them. Beanbags conform to childrens' shapes as they nuzzle in, supporting lower back, shoulders, and arms simultaneously. Beanbag couches and chairs come in wildly stimulating colors, textures, and prints. They can be furry, lime green, wet-look vinyl, tiger print, or shaped like a horse or elephant. They are lightweight, so they are easy for the child to rearrange at will. With both foam and bean furniture, choose models with hidden, cloth-covered zippers that enable the cover to be cleaned or laundered, but that prevent scratches (on kids and floors) as children move them around. Many beanbag chairs have child safety zippers to ensure that everything stays inside.

Kids need floor space in their bedroom! There they will spread out toys, create fantasy worlds, hold tea parties for stuffy animals, construct toy sets, dump their Legos, and arrange and rearrange their world endlessly. Creating floor space can be difficult when the child gets the smallest room in the house, as is often the case. Furniture that changes shape is, then, the smartest investment for parents.

Futon beds are great because they begin as a couch, creating a comfortable space for parent and child(ren) to cuddle around a book. Later they easily unfold into a twin or double bed. Kids futons are relatively inexpensive because, given the kid's light weight, it is not necessary to invest in an expensive mattress. Kids sleep soundly on the floor, so a cotton mattress will do just fine.

Sitting together on a couch and reading to your child is the best single activity you can do with our children. Reading time is quiet time for focusing, relaxing, relating to each other and to the characters in the book, and for drawing out life's lessons. Reading to your child stimulates a child's imagination, develops vocabulary, and prepares little ones for a lifetime of reading on their own. It is much easier to progress from reading to bedtime than from other activities, particularly the TV. (Leave the TV and the computer in grown-up areas where you can closely monitor what your child is watching).

Once finished reading, the futon couch unfolds, transforming into a cozy bed. A child who has just had a loving, warm time with Mom or Dad is much more relaxed and willing to go to sleep than one who has not. By day, the futon folds back into a sofa to expose all that floor space where brave new worlds will be constructed.

As your child ages, bunk beds or futon bunks make use of airspace to preserve that hard-won floor space. We saw bunk beds as climbing structures where kids could practice climbing in a safe environment. The sleepover stage reaches its peak at pre-teen years, when a child learns to bond with people outside the family. Bunk beds are advantageous as older children tire of sleeping on the floor. Futon bunks combine a single bed on top and a double sofa-bed below. The futon bunk bed is the ultimate space-saver for a child's room as the bed rises above the clutter while the couch is still available as a comfortable reading space and additional sleeper. All of these make for great kids bedroom furniture.

Kids Come in All Shapes and Sizes (And So Do Their Beds) - Overview of Different Kinds of Kids Beds

Every kid is different, and no two kids have exactly the same needs and desires when it comes to where they rest their weary little heads at night. As a parent, it's important you understand the differences between the various kinds of kid's beds so that you can make the right choice for you and your child's best night's sleep.

Two for One - Bunk Beds

Though there are many different types of bunk beds as well, the general idea of all of them is two beds stacked one atop the other. A ladder on the side or end of the bed allows the child sleeping in the upper bunk safe access up and down. You can easily inject the unique personality of each of your children into their bunk bed by giving them each their own unique bedding befitting of their tastes and interests.

An interesting variation on a standard bunk bed is a single-over double, or a bunk bed with a single bed on top and a double bed on the bottom. A futon bunk bed has a futon bed for its lower half.

Bunk beds are perfect space-savers for siblings sharing the same room or children who have lots of sleepover guests. The upper bunk in a bunk bed should only be used by children 6 years old and older.

The Ultimate Space-Saver: Murphy Beds

For small rooms, the perfect space saver is a Murphy bed - a bed that you can stow away into the wall when it's not in use. With a Murphy bed, you can easily add play space and/or study space to any kids bedroom no matter your space limitations.

An Elegant Touch: Canopy Beds

Installing a canopy over a child's bed not only adds a feeling of luxury and decadence to the bed (and the whole room, for that matter), but it also tends to make some children feel safer sleeping alone in their rooms. A canopy bed provides an element of shelter and a sense of protection for children prone to nighttime anxiety.

Baby Steps Up to Toddler Beds

If you believe that your child is ready to make the transition away from a crib but is not quite ready to make the leap to a big kid's bed, you might find toddler beds the perfect intermediary solution. Toddler beds are typically lower to the floor than standard beds, making it easier for small children to safely and securely climb in and out. Other features of toddler beds

include scratch-proof coatings and curved corners.

The Sun is Out, So is School - Do You Know Where Your Kids Are?

Today's post is for parents who have just realized that it is the end of the school year, which means that school will be out soon, and their kiddies will roam free until the end of August.

Keeping your kids out of harm's way over the summer is one of the primary concerns of parents everywhere. And yes, you guessed it, I am going to suggest that you teach your kids how to dance. And here is why:

One: it will give them something to do. Dancing, especially Ballroom dancing tends to get pretty involved, which means your kids will not only be occupied during class time, but will also need to practice what they've learned. This is also true for other dance styles, like Ballet, or Hip-hop. And what it means for you is a few peaceful hours a day when you know exactly where your kids are and what they are doing!

Two: dancing will teach your kids to be aware of themselves, their bodies, their behavior, as well as of others. Ballroom dancing is partner dancing. One of the most important aspects of Ballroom dancing, whether you choose a traditional Ballroom, or a Latin style, is learning to dance together with another person. It teaches one how to touch another person in a respectful manner, how to use your own body, how to work together as a team towards a common goal.

Three: it will give your kids a goal. The goal may be to learn a routine, to perform, to enter a competition, to learn enough to dance socially, to learn a particular dance (for example, if you are Hispanic, you may want your child to know how to Salsa). There are plenty of other goals you and your child can set, all of which will work just fine towards keeping his or her summer safe and productive.

Four: it will keep them exercising. Dancing is a form of cardiovascular exercise. Ballroom dancing in particular, also happens to be a cognitive exercise at the same time. It will keep your child's muscles and brain active at the same time.

Five: your child will have a new skill, and possibly a life-long hobby, that will promote physical health, great social skills, and long-lasting friendships.

Six: if none of these seem to make any sense, look at it this way: it is something to do! Classes designed for kids and teenagers tend to be cheaper than adult classes (so they won't break the bank), they will break up your kid's days, and they will give them something to do other than causing trouble!

And seven, if you wish, you may get into it as well. If you do decide to sign your kid up for a class, don't just drop them off, stay for a while and watch. You may like what you see! After all, Ballroom dancing (and dancing in general) is the most fun way of exercising ever invented!

So Happy Summer! And Happy Dancing!

Stop Divorce - Get to the Bottom of the Cause of the Breakup and Save Your Marriage If You Want!

If you want to save your marriage because you do not want to end it completely, then it is ideal that you learn how to do it the right way. The key to saving your marriage and to stop divorce is to get to the root of the problem. Knowing where the problem lies would make it easier for you to determine on how to deal with the situation and rescue your union as soon as possible. It may not be that easy but it can be done; as long as you know where to start fixing things.

One of the reasons why most marriages fail is the lack of communication between husband and wife. It may be due to varying reasons. Most of the time one party is not willing to send the message across to the other party. When this continues for long, it would be the start of the break of the union. Most marriages that failed are not usually the ones with big fights. This is why many people around them are surprised when hearing that divorce has been filed by the couple. It might be merely because they have drifted apart and it seems that they have been too reluctant to work things out. This is the biggest obstacle that most married couples are not able to resolve until they decide that there is no better way to deal with it.

Another reason is when one of them has done wrong and the aggrieved spouse does want to continue suffering from the wrongdoings of the other party. It might have been committed plenty of times, which make the other party so pissed off and decided to put a stop to everything. There are many actions that can lead to this decision including cheating or infidelity, being abusive or even alcohol or substance abuse that has been forgiven many times; but it seems that it keeps going on and on.

No matter how serious the cause might be, there is still a way to stop divorce. However you need to get to the bottom of the cause. You see, the best way to fix any problem is to deal with its root cause and mending a failing marriage goes the same way too.

For example, your spouse is honest enough to tell you that he wants a divorce because he feels you are not the same person he married several years ago. It seems that you have changed a lot from the timid and sweet lady that have captured his heart. Now, you have become so loud and you keep on nagging everyday.

Now, if you are willing to change in order to stop the divorce, then you need to convince him that you can bring back the old "you"! Let go of your pride and convince him that you can go back to your old ways that he longs to be with. However, you should never beg for him to stop the divorce. That is a big no-no!

Actually, this is just the simplest scenario of what commonly happens in many relationships. It was just related with the intention of presenting a common solution on how you can stop divorce. The essence of this is for you to learn a strategy that is honest and sincere because your spouse can feel your sincerity. The bottom line is to find out where the problem is and try to solve it from there. You need to take action to stop divorce if you still love your spouse!

A Sky High Good Night with Kids Loft Beds

A quick and easy way to double the space in your kids bedroom is to install a kids loft bed that allows for usable space underneath. Kids loft beds are like bunk beds without the bottom bunk. There's usually a ladder or steps of some sort on the side that allows the child to easily climb in and out of bed by him or herself.

Kids Loft Beds Give them a Bird's Eye View of their World

Most kids love loft beds because it makes them feel like they're on top of the world. For a time, they feel like the tallest person around instead of the shortest. And they imagine themselves seeing (maybe even soaring like an eagle) to the horizon on all sides. Even kids that may reject a standard bed might find themselves eager to try out a loft bed, just for these very reasons.

What's Under the Loft Bed?

Kids have a reputation for stuffing things under their beds, never to be seen again. Kids loft beds alleviate that problem once and for all, as anything placed under a loft bed is essentially out in the open for anyone to see. Instead of shoving their dirty clothes, uneaten snacks, and crumpled school work under their beds, you may place a bean bag chair, a T.V., a bookshelf, a coffee table or snack table, a video game unit, a computer, a train set, a puzzle or model table, a dresser, or some other element that your child regularly interacts with and gets use and value from.

Parents could even permit their trustworthy child to hang a curtain or a sheet or blanket down from the loft, giving them a private enclosure beneath their loft bed in which to build a fort or set up a private clubhouse from them and their friends.

There's Always Room to Play

Whatever you and your child put under their loft bed, they'll appreciate how you've given them a permanent play space in their very own bedroom. Kids loft beds allow you to design a separate play space and sleeping space into a single kid's bedroom.

Custom Theme Lofts Beds

Kids loft beds can be built with a custom theme design like any other kids beds. Whether it's a princess castle bed for your daughter or a tree house bed for your son or a set of side-by-side custom townhouse beds or log cabin beds for your two siblings to share, building them as loft beds opens so much space up in the room to use for so many other creative and convenient purposes.

Kids and Pencil Cases

Pencil cases have been around for years and years and were extremely popular in the 50s and 60s. They're still popular now, and are used by hundreds if not thousands of companies as a promotional tool. They come in many styles, and even today there is a call for mass-produced pencil cases. Although some group pencil bags under this heading, we will not, as pencil bags are merely that, a plastic of heavy cloth or canvas bag with a zipper that is made of a size that would hold a pencil in length.

The venerable case is what we shall discuss. Pencil cases are made to hold anywhere from 2 to a dozen or more pencils of varying shapes and sizes. The case is it of is often made of wood but it can also be made of metal wood. It is designed so that people will be kept free from accidentally being stuck by a pencil. This happens frequently because pencils are usually kept sharpened.

Pencil cases may be plain or have decorations. Often there is an associated theme with the case decoration. Many kid friendly cartoons and television or movie characters have had their likenesses on these cases. The Hello Kitty likenesses have been popular for about 10 years and continue to be a favorite. Businesses also promote their brands on pencil cases, as the flat surface is an ideal promotional space for businesses looking to market to children. Some pencil cases or boxes have functional value added with enclosed or attached math tables or pencil sharpeners. There are even some round metal tins with screw on tops that are being offered as cases for pencils.

Schools are the most likely location in which you will see the pencil case phenomenon in full force. At the beginning of every school year almost every grammar school child will plead for a pencil case, usually one with his favorite cartoon or hero's likeness gracing the outside. Pencil cases are dutifully taken to school but their follow up use is a bit shaky. For most kids, putting the pencils back seems to take way too much trouble. Pencil cases are held in hands and used as pretend swords. They are lost with some regularity and the hard plastic ones get stepped on and broken. Life is tough for the protectors of fingers and pencils.

You can find these at almost any dollar store, supermarket or other retail establishment. Some party suppliers even offer them as party favors for the grade school kids. And if you have ever had the joy and fun of giving one of these parties you will know firsthand that kids love to get these as little gifts. Go figure. I am not certain of the attraction of a child for these unless it is the advertising draw. It is almost impossible to find a plain pencil box anywhere. They all have some link to television or the movies.

Some adults even collect these little guys, and of course they are looking for the ones that are ole, unusual, or have a particular cartoon character or television character associated with it. It might be fun at that to look and see how many cases you could find with dogs or horses emblazoned on them.....Just bear in mind in the middle of the summer their popularity wanes but in a couple of months they are going to be at the head of the class.

After-Prom Ideas For Conservative Teens

If you are a conservative or religious teen you may be wondering what you can do after prom. As you already know, prom-night is notorious for hotel parties with plenty of alcohol and drugs. Some prior planning can make a huge difference in your after-prom fun level. Here are some ideas we've come up with:

Dinner: If your prom isn't serving dinner then you should probably go out to dinner. Decide on a restaurant with your date or a group. Unless it's a fast-food joint you should probably make reservations a few weeks ahead of time. Weekends are usually busy for restaurants but weekends during prom season are even more busy. It's no fun to wait an hour for a table, so plan ahead.  Since you're already dressed to turn heads it's fun to go to a fancy restaurant even if you can only afford to order an appetizer or dessert.

Activity: Some popular after-prom activities are playing miniature golf, going to a comedy club, playing pool, bowling, going to a movie, playing video games, or just going to the mall to parade around in your fancy clothes.

After-Party: A fun and inexpensive way to hang out with your date or group of friends after prom is a prom after-party. Do any of your friends have a huge TV, game room, swimming pool or a jacuzzi? When you find a home, ask the parents if you can have exclusive use of the common areas for the night, meaning the grownups will be there but they won't compete with you for use of the facilities. More importantly, they'll keep younger children from bothering you and your date or group. Make sure the parents know the party will go very late, and get them to agree to stay up the whole time. If the parents will be there and be awake the whole time your friends' parents will be more likely to let them come.

Use these ideas as a springboard for planning your own after-prom fun. Who knows? You might have more fun after prom than you did at the prom!

Teach Your Kids - How to Make a Dog Bed

A fun project to undertake with your kids is making a dog bed. Of course, you could go out and spend a hundred dollars or more on designer dog beds but that would not be nearly as much fun as teaching your kids how to make a dog bed for their special pet. They will always remember how much fun it was to make something so special and they will love watching little Fido making himself comfortable on the dog bed they made. There are some basic things you will need before you begin making dog beds.

The first thing you will need to buy is foam. Make sure you buy a commercial grade foam that is heavy duty and comfortable so that your dog will be cozy on his little dog bed. Choose at least four inches of foam and up to eight depending on how cushiony you want to make the bed.

The next thing you will want to buy is fabric. Now, you may want to choose several swatches of commercial grade fabric and take them home and let the kids choose which ones they like the best. The reason for this is that if you take your kids to the fabric store they will likely pick out a fabric that is cutesy and fun but that is not of a high enough grade to withstand the wear and tear of your pet. So, to avoid any fights or disappoints just pick out as many swatches of commercial grade fabric as possible and then let the kids pick so they have some input.

You will also need some heavy duty thread. Usually upholstery thread is strong enough and will do a great job. Just pick a color that will match the fabric and that is all you will need. If your kids are really into making this dog bed and they know how to use a sewing machine then help them sew the pieces of the dog bed together after you cut them out. Remember that you can make your dog bed in any shape you like. Round, square, rectangle, oval, or anything at all will work. Just make sure that the bed is bigger than your pet and you have enough room to accommodate it. Other than that this is all you need to know about making a dog bed with your kids. Just do your best to make it fun and your kids will love the project not to mention Fido!

When Children Hate Parents

Most of the children love their parents. But it is also true that children love their parents only when parents take care of them properly with love and affection. In case, their requirements are not fulfilled they may start disliking the parents. Parents give birth to their children so they love them whatever the situation or condition may be. But it is not so for the children.

THERE IS A CONDITION

Children want their needs to be fulfilled. When they develop or grow they have certain requirements. If parents are unable to fulfil their requirements of love, money, understanding, and curtail their freedom too much children may develop dissatisfaction. This dissatisfaction may transform to dislike, and then hate. They also want that parents must help them to develop their personality in every possible manner.

INFLUECE OF CIRCUMSTANCES

The second main reason why children start hating parents lies in the circumstances they are influenced with. They are influenced with the circumstance at home as well outside. Sometimes parents have too many tiffs and arguments. It disturbs the children too much. They are surprised at the behaviour of their parents. They are unable to concentrate to studies or any other good activity at home. Another set of circumstance they get in outside world. They may mix up with bad company. Bad friends or people often affect their mind in a negative way and children start disrespecting their parents. They become selfish and uncaring.

SOLUTION

Although the solution to the problem is simple but it takes time. You need a lot of patience to get the attention and love of your children. Give them love, time and understanding. Listen to them properly. Motivate them to leave the company of bad friends or persons. Help them to get busy in study and career making. Provide them all the facilities which can develop their personality in positive way.

If you are a parent of a teenager, then the idea of your teen dating will usually strike fear into your heart. You are probably aware that things can go wrong in the dating scene because you were once a teenager yourself. You may have experienced coming home crying because your date turned out to be too aggressive, or made a mean remark about your outfit. Of course, all your dates did not turn out that way. You may also have experienced thrilling dates that are full of compliments and fun from beginning to end.

Your teenager will go through some ups and downs when he or she enters the world of dating. Your job as a parent is to be there for your teen and guide them in this new interaction with their peers. The home is the best place to start the preparation for teen dating. This is because your teenager will base his or her expectations on the model you provide.

Kids can observe how their parents interact long before teen dating comes into their consciousness. The home is a place that demonstrates issues like respect, compromise, privacy and assertive behavior between parents. How to Choose the Best Beds for Your Kids

Choosing the best bed for your kids is pretty easy if you just know what to look for. A bedstead is one thing you want to take into consideration and you might want to choose a captain's bed or a kid captain bed for your little one. However, before you begin looking for the actual bed you must choose a good mattress.

A good mattress is of utmost importance for your child simply because little bodies need support. When your child receives proper support from his mattress his body will grow better and he will have fewer problems with aches and pains from a mattress that is not up to par. So, when considering what type of mattress to buy make sure you go with a name brand top of the line mattress that is sure to provide your kid with all the support he needs to get a good night's rest each and every night so he can wake up refreshed and ready to conquer the day.

Now, you are ready to move on to buying your kids bed. Think about the child's room, how much space is available, and what the kid wants. When you think of all these things it won't be long before you have narrowed your options down significantly. If your child has a very small room and only a single bed will fit then you just look at single beds. You might want a captain's bed or bunk beds for when friends sleep over. You may prefer to buy a different type of bed however like a sleigh bed or even a four poster. It really depends on your child and the room. So, make sure you measure the area and make sure you have enough space and height for the type of bed you want to purchase. Make sure your child is happy with the bed that will be purchased as well. Nobody wants a bed they don't care for so if the bed is for your child let him pick it out, within reason.

Keep in mind current color schemes as well as possible color schemes in the future. For example, if your little girl is dying for a white four poster bed today talk to her about how she would feel about a white bed when she is 20 and see if you can get her to see into the future. If you feel your kid is making a choice based on current trends then you might want to buy a bed that is cheaper so you can replace it later should your child change her mind!

Indoor Playhouse Structures-Theme Beds - Custom Playhouses Makes the Perfect Escape For Kid

These days a kid's bed need not be just a bed. With a little creativity and ingenuity, you can turn an ordinary bed into an awe-inspiring indoor play space in even the smallest of children's bedrooms.

Whether it's because of inclement weather, the hour of the day, the lack of available adult supervision or any number of other reasons, letting your kids play outside is not always a viable option. But without suitable and appropriate play space in the house, it can often become next to impossible to allow the type of play your children need and enjoy indoors either.

But now you can replace your child's bulky and utilitarian bed with a custom theme bed that doubles as an indoor playhouse structure. Of course the key word here for you as a parent is "structure", and to qualify as a suitable play space a custom theme bed must be first and foremost structurally sound.

Fortunately designers and builders of kid's beds are now using sturdy, durable, and reliable building materials to invent two-story structures that can safely support the weight of multiple children at once. Some custom theme beds used also as indoor playhouses even have climbing walls, ladders, and sliding ponds built into the structure, making for endless hours of play.

A second-story loft above the sleeping area in a custom theme bed makes an excellent space for abundant imaginative play. Or alternately, you could make the loft the sleeping area and keep the area underneath open for play. Shelves, dresser drawers, and toy boxes can be incorporated into the design so that as much of the available space as possible is left open for your active child and his or her friends to enjoy.

Custom playhouse beds designed around a theme doubly serve parents' and children's needs alike by helping immerse children in their make-believe environments. That's why custom theme beds make the best indoor play structures. Think about all the adventures boys and girls alike would have in a custom castle bed for example - with visions of princesses and knights in shining armor, battles and rescues, feasts and fancy balls all dancing in their heads. Or think of the fun that kids can have imagining the sand and surf of a beach themed bed or underwater themed bed - building castles and hunting for buried treasure.

What better way to safely tire your little ones out and easily tuck them in for a good night's sleep than by having their bed also be their favorite play area?

After Prom Party and School Carnival Event Ideas

Spring is upon us, which means that just around the corner the school season will be winding up. For many students it means a time for fun and laughter. But for many high school juniors and seniors, their minds are focus on prom night.

Prom night is a major highlight of many students high school career. On this night, everything is planned to be perfect and run smoothly. This can also be a stressful time for the teachers and parents who attend prom. Staying on top of things and making sure that nothing gets "out of hand" can be somewhat overwhelming. Especially when it come to the prom after parties.

Many schools will arrange for games and activities to be held on campus to prevent the students from getting into trouble. Sadly, many students will never attend these functions, due to childish games or lack off interest. The key to remember is to try and find something that will keep the students attention and provide great entertainment. A question to ask yourself is, "Will the students be able to enjoy this time and time again?" Having games and activities that are fun, but only last for a short period of time will only lead the student to boredom. It is important to keep the students active and entertained.

When I was a freshman in college, my university held a block party for all arriving freshman. The university had blocked off two major intersections and parking lots so we could as walk about and interact. To keep up occupied and a part of the festivities, the university had rented an inflatable moonwalk, and an inflatable obstacle course. Students were lining up to try out these games and would still get back in line after they were done.

Inflated games have been hits for all types of school or even church events. They can provide safe and clean fun for students or adults. Most rental companies that offer inflatable games can usually be found on the Internet or in the yellow pages. But before you to decide on a company to rent from, hear are three things to think off.

1. What is the condition of the equipment?

2. Where is the company you are renting from located and is there a traveling fee?

3. Is there enough space to accommodate these inflated games at location of the party?

4. Ask the company for an approximate number of guests a game can allow per hour.

5. Does the company provide skilled equipment supervisors?

The idea behind these games is to bring laughter and enjoyment to everyone around. Keeping these five simple questions in mind, you will be able to decide if the company you are going to rent from is truly going to provide you with the best in inflatable entertainment possible.

Kites For Kids

Kites date back 3000 years, when the Chinese made them from bamboo and silk. Over the centuries kites have been used in religious ceremonies, scientific experiments, military maneuvers and, of course, for fun. Today's sites explore the history, the science and the sport of kite flying. Learn more at the following sites:

20 Kids * 20 Kites * 20 Minutes

Can a classroom of twenty students make twenty kites, and be outside flying them in twenty minutes? You betcha! Uncle Jonathan from the Big Wind Kite Factory on the Hawaiian island of Molokai shares the kid-tested instructions he's been using with tour groups for fifteen years. The kites are folded from 8 « x 11 inch paper, so they are smaller than the usual kite, but the simple directions are easy enough for kindergartners, yet fun enough for big kids too!

How Does a Kite Fly?

This eye-pleasing site, created for a Physics course, starts with a short explanation of drag and lift, then quickly moves on to other disciplines. Don't miss the folk tales from China, Bali and Hawaii (found on History of Kites page) or the interviews with kiters Michael Graves and Peter Peters. Instructions for building a simple diamond kite and a large list of kite links complete this site.

Learn2 Make a Kite

This Learn2 lesson is actually two tutorials in one. The first set of instructions (Method 1) is a kite made from tissue paper and straw that costs almost nothing to build. Method 2 constructs a classic Scott Sled kite. It is a bit more time-consuming, but also more durable, as it is made from plastic tarp and dowels. To print the instructions, click on over to the last step of the second kite, where you'll find a link to All the Steps at Once.

Kids Bedroom Furniture - Fun With Family

Choosing kids bedroom furniture can be exciting yet challenging; you want to make your child's room look the best it can but you don't want to break the bank in doing so, understandably. Let's look at the basics and determine which essential pieces your child needs in their room.

Your child will obviously need a bed - and the size of the room is likely the determinant in whether you get a half bed (twin), full bed or larger. The child's size might also necessitate that you purchase a toddler bed - which uses a crib sized mattress and is set very low to the ground so that the child can climb in and out of bed easily. You will need to determine if you want to purchase a bed by itself, or if you want a bed with coordinating dresser, chest and nightstand. This will help to keep the child's clothing organized and give them a spot to place a lamp at the bedside.

No list of must-have kids bedroom furniture is complete without the addition of a toy chest. One thing is for sure - kids will always have tons of toys lying around and a toy chest can help them to organize their toys and keep them up off the floor.

Most kids can benefit from a kid size table and chair set that matches the other furniture in their room. This is a good spot for doing homework, entertaining friends, playing games, and more. You can find a lot of different options when it comes to a table and chair set when shopping for kids bedroom furniture. A table with two chairs may be sufficient, or you might opt for a table with four chairs, depending on the space you have in the child's room.

A child's coat tree is smaller than adult coat trees and provides the best spot for hanging their outerwear so that it is easily accessible and they don't have to run all over the house hunting for it! Choose a coat tree that coordinates with the other bedroom furniture, or go for a bold color that matches their bedding.

Most kids are on the Internet every day - and having their own computer desk and chair gives them the perfect place for doing homework, chatting with friends and exploring the Web.

Unique Loft Beds

A loft can be defined as a room, under the roof in a building, used either for storage in most private houses, or to sleep in. A loft bed is one, which is elevated off the ground. Loft beds are commonly installed in college dormitories, with the intension of maximum utilization of the available space. When the bed is elevated or moved off the floor, it can make room for other use. Loft beds are also used in homes, in children's bedrooms.

Basically, a loft bed is nothing more than a bed on high legs. In the standard configuration, a twin size bed frame is attached to the inner braces of the bed structure. It is quite easy to convert a regular bed into a loft bed. However, it is essential to be safety-conscious in this endeavor. The long legs have to be properly stiffened or braced, to ensure that the entire frame remains stable. In the case a home modification project planned, it is better to seek the help of a professional.

Many unique loft beds are designed to suit specific requirements. The open space made available as a result of elevating the bed, offers many interesting possibilities. Loft beds can be designed with additional features installed below the bed. Some can have a settee, for seating by day and an additional bed, at night. This space can also be used for closets, drawers, toy chests or any kind of storage space required. A loft bed can even be designed to include a writing table or desk underneath. A cleverly designed loft bed can help the children to be well organized, by keeping all their things together.

If a loft bed, with the required unique features cannot be found ready-made, it is possible to configure one by buying the necessary components separately.

Kids Love Bunk Beds - Parents Love Bunk Beds

There's no doubt that kids love bunk beds. They're lots of fun for kids, and there's a stack of good reasons why you should think about buying some bunk beds for your kids.

Why do kids love bunks? Because bunks are fun. It's quite possible to turn your bed into just about anything that you want to. Maybe your bed is a pirate ship, maybe a princess' castle? There's so many things that a child can do with a bunk bed that they can't do with a regular bed.

Hang a sheet from the top bunk and you've got a hideaway, or a house, or a dungeon.

And it's sociable. Kids love to sleep near each other. It gives them a sense of familiarity, and it gives them comfort when it's dark, or windy, or raining.

But there's also good reasons why parents love bunk beds too. It's quite possible to house 2 kids in one small bedroom if you use bunks for the kids, and it doesn't take up any more space than one single bed. So if you've got more kids than bedrooms buy a bunk bed instead of a new house, it's way cheaper. And the kids will love it too, rather than complain as they would if you tried to squeeze a second bed into a small bedroom.

And if you're thinking of buying a house, but it's pretty expensive, then you could buy a smaller house, or an apartment, and put 2 kids in one bedroom if you use bunks to do it. The kids are happy, you've bought a house that you might not have been able to afford otherwise.

That's because bunk beds use up space very efficiently. They take up vertical space, whereas a regular bed takes up floor space. And it's one of the few ways you can use up vertical space in a bedroom.

And bunks look great. Bunks are a piece of furniture, whereas regular beds are just a platform to hold up a mattress. Bunks are made of timber, and have lots of different colors. And designs. And looks, and feels. Bunks can come in so many different shapes and sizes and colors whereas regular beds are - well - regular. And boring.

Why not have a set of good storage drawers under the beds, or have offset bunks so that they fit in a corner? There's so many options.

However there is one thing you need to think about. Bunks can be dangerous for kids, particularly young kids, if you don't take precautions. Kids can hurt themselves in falls from the top bunk, and so you need to make sure you get child friendly bunks. Make sure the top bunk has good railings to prevent falls, don't buy bunks with no railings on the top. And make sure they have good solid stairs.

And don't get bunks with corner posts that stick up above the railing, kids can catch things on them and fall, or hang off them, which isn't great.

Bearing that in mind, bunk beds are a great option for kids beds, in so many different situations. They offer options that regular beds don't, both for saving space and for making good use of space. Kids love them and they look good. And they're functional.

And if you shop for your bunkbeds online you'll be pleasantly surprised by the prices you can find. There are some very good quality cheap bunk beds around in places you wouldn't have thought of.

It's the same as with so many products now. Low overheads mean that sellers can sell cheaply online, and still make a profit. So if you're looking for cheap bunk beds do so online, you'll be surprised at how cheap those bunk beds can be.
