Home Interior Design Tips on Decorating Your Space With Wall Art

How to Decorate your Space with Wall Pictures

If a room in your house lacks character, by simply placing some fine art prints on the walls can actually make quite an impact. Wall pictures are a necessary accessory in your home and are great to tie in with the room's style and color accent. Before you go off to buy some new pictures for your walls there are a few things you need to plan and decide upon. Here is a home interior design guide on how to decorate your space with wall art.

Shop for Wall Art by Room

The kind of home you have and the mood, ambience and style of decor you create, should be perfectly designed to suit your lifestyle. Deciding on a style for your room should be determined by the lifestyle you choose and not by what's the latest home interior design trend.

Whichever room you are wanting to decorate, whether it be your bedroom, living area, kitchen or office space, you need to decide what you want to get out of that space. For example:

do you want to hold dinner parties or entertain?
do you want a quiet retreat to get away from the hustle and bustle?
Is this an area for the kids to play in?
Is this a room for your hobby?

Once you have decided what you want to use the room for, you can now choose a color theme to suit the function of the room. For example, mellow greens and neutrals for your 'quiet retreat room', lively yellow for the kids room, or pale tranquil blue for your office space.

So far we have established the function and color of the room in question, this then gives us the basis on choosing the right art prints for the area.

For example:

bright colorful cartoon pictures for the kids room
mellow pastel floral pictures for your quiet retreat area, or
tranquil landscape and scenic pictures for your office space

Choose your Style

Like paint color, artwork can immediately establish or change a room's mood. Not only can it pull the room together, but you can use it to create a style uniquely your own.

traditional & classic
modern
contemporary
fun & entertaining
casual
romantic

The style of the room is totally dependent on your own personal taste and this is the time when you can inject your own personality into the room through artwork and textured accessories.

Suggested art picture styles:

Fun & Entertaining: Pictures can include bright colors both in the print and on the frame. Fun and entertaining pictures can include kittens and puppies, or comedian actors such as the Three Stooges or Laurel & Hardy.

Modern: With the strong black accents in the framed iron-work and the tapestries, striking black and white photos are a natural choice for a modern and sophisticated look.

Calm Retreat: To reinforce the mood of a nestled, cozy retreat, use artwork with neutral, earthy colors and a horizontal landscape subject.

You can even mix and match different styles to create a unique style of your own. For example, frame traditional black and white photo prints in a modern black iron frame.

Arranging and Hanging your Pictures

In order to get the maximum effect of your wall pictures in terms of adding character and a focal point to the room, you need to decide where and how you want to hang them.

Here are some suggestions to help you decide how to get the best effects from your pictures:-

Modern Gallery Look: To create a modern art gallery feel, particularly nice in hallways, lobbies and stairwells, give each piece ample breathing room. Stand at the center of the first piece and take one swift, or two small steps along the wall. This is a good center for the next piece.

Above a Sofa: When placing art above furniture such as a sofa, you need to hang the picture about six to nine inches above the sofa, or at eye level.

Cluster Arrangements: Tightly group an even number of pictures together to give a statement or a focal point. This works on either large or small wall spaces, depending on the look you want.

In a row: By placing an odd number of pictures in a horizontal line to each other gives balance and the sense of space. This works well in hallways or stairwells.

By deciding where and how to hang your pictures, whether it be a tight cluster or a single print above a sofa, you can then determine the size and shape of the pictures you need to buy.

When you have decided on the room's function, color and style, you are in a much better position to go shopping for wall pictures that fit in with the overall theme.

Summary

Wall pictures are an underestimated home interior design accessory. This is probably because most people do not know what to do with their pictures in order to get the maximum effect in a room. Before you go hanging up your pictures make sure you plan ahead what you want to get out of that room. Decide on the function, style and color of the room first before you buy your artwork. By doing this you are in a much better position to buy the right type of art picture to fit in with the theme and color accent of your room.

The Best African American Hair Care Tips For Long Healthy Hair

No matter what your hair texture, you can benefit from these African American hair care tips. Natural hair or relaxed hair needs special treatment and gentle handling to achieve optimal health. I hope these are helpful to you.

Watch the Heat

Make sure your hair has been freshly washed and conditioned before using a heated styling tool. Do not redo your hair mid-week if it frizzes up. This can cause damage due the build up of styling products and dirt on your hair
Take a break from the heat! Retain more of your hair length by styling your hair with heat free styles like braid outs, French rolls, and buns.

Proper Bed Time Care

Do not go to bed without wrapping your hair or pinning it up. Remember to wear a scarf to maintain your hairstyle and keep your hairline smooth.
Always detangle your hair before bedtime. Remember to use a wide-tooth comb. This will make it even easier to style your hair in the morning.
Use an oil or serum on your hair ends at night. Do this before rolling your hair or wrapping it in the scarf. Your hair will retain moisture and it will help you to hold a better curl.

Regular Maintenance

Don't go longer than a week without washing your hair. A common myth among African American women is not to wash your hair too much because it will lead to dryness. Far from the truth. Water will keep your hair moisturized and clean. Having a clean scalp and hair will promote hair growth. And it smells much better!
Depending upon the health of your hair, you should get your ends trimmed every 2-6 months. Start with this tip immediately. It's a good start to your healthy hair journey.
Deep conditioning should be done at least every other week using the heat of a hooded dryer. The heat will help the conditioning penetrate. Use a protein deep conditioner once a month to strengthen your hair.

This list of African American hair care tips should help you get started on your journey to healthier and longer hair.

RV Living Verses Apartment Living

A couple of years ago my wife and I decided we were going to travel the US in a semi-retired state. We kicked out the kids (all over 21), sold our home and purchased an RV. Well live situations change and we didn't get on the road, at least not yet. We ended up staying in the area and taking full time jobs. But we decided at the time to stay in the RV as full-timers.

The purpose of the article is to offer some insight as to the possibilities of using RV's instead of apartments and the advantages of Rving. First a little background for those that are not familiar with the Recreational Vehicle (RV) terms. RVs are classified into several different categories.

Class A are the bus like vehicles you see traveling down the road. These are also called Motorhomes and for good reason. Class A's are the cream of the crop so to speak. They are the most expensive in terms of cost but have the most storage and amenities. I have seen some really nice Class A's and when it comes time for us to upgrade or trade in our current RV we will be looking at the Class A again. However, my tastes start in the $250,000 range, which is a little hard for me to justify.

Next are Class B, these are mini motorhomes. They are built on a light to medium truck chassis and can be identified by the truck cab appearance of the vehicle. In my opinion, these will not be suitable for full time use unless you really like small places. Some newer Class Bs are including what are called slides which are sections of the RV that 'slide out' from the body giving you more living space inside. Living space is what you will be looking for in the long run.

After the Class B comes Fifth Wheels. Fifth Wheels are trailers that are pulled by pickup trucks. So to get a fifth wheel you will also need a pickup truck of appropriate size. I would figure at least a ¾ ton pickup. Fifth wheels offer an advantage over Class A and Class B in that once you have the fifth wheel set up on a campsite, the truck is detached and can be used as a means of transportation. With Class A & B RV's you will need to either tow or bring another vehicle with you to get around. Fifth wheels approach the Class A RV in amenities and in some cases have more space. Dollar for dollar you will get more living space in a fifth wheel than a Class A.

However, you do need an expensive tow vehicle (truck) which has to be considered as part of the purchase. The fifth wheel is also part of a class considered as 'Towables'. The next 'towable' is the travel trailer (TT). These are similar to the fifth wheel except in the connections to the tow vehicle. With TT you connect to a hitch that sits near the bumper of the vehicle. Hence, just about any vehicle has the capabilities of towing a TT depending on size and weight of course. Class A, Fifth Wheels and Travel Trailers are the 3 main RV that you will find people living in on a fulltime basis. After the TT comes the camper class. These are light weight RV really not suitable for full time, however, I have met people that are full-timers in pop-ups, truck campers and even tents. The top of the line for the camper class is probably the truck campers.

These are units that slide into the bed of a pickup truck. In general, the max length is no more than 12 feet from front to back and maybe 10 feet side to side. They are very compact. These offer the ultimate in freedom, in that they are quick to setup and take down so that you can move quickly from place to place. However, just like the class A & B, your home is also your transportation, unless you bring another vehicle with you. The last group of towables is the popup or tent trailers. These have a study box frame and as the name implies pop up or lift up to raise the roof over the frame. This class of campers usually have soft sides made of cloth. I have used popups for years as an alternative to hotels while on assignments around the country. Even did some camping in the middle of winter with snow on the ground in a popup. Needless to say, a heater was required and it ran all day and all night. At night it wasn't able to keep up with the cold so the morning was a little fun getting out of bed. It was 20 degrees outside and about 50 inside.

That is a basic overview of the types of RV's available. As mentioned before, Class A, Fifth wheel and Travel Trailers are the units that most people will find suitable for full-time living.

Our experiences with living full-time in an RV.

We currently have a fifth wheel. Ours is from Jayco and is 38 feet long with 3 slides. One slide is in the bedroom, the other two slides are in the living room one on each side of the trailer. After almost 3 years in the RV as full-timers, we both love it. My wife likes to say it takes less than an hour to clean from front to back, floor to ceiling.

Let's start with the financial side of living in a RV. You have the cost of the RV. These are to be treated just like cars. If you buy new, you will take a beating on depreciation. However, like a home, the interest is tax deductible. So the best deal seems to be a unit that is a year or two old and financed. If you want to buy new, figure a discount of about 25-30% off from the list price. Our unit was a 2003 still on the lot in 2005 with the 2006 units being delivered. The sticker price was over $65,000. We paid $40,000 saving us about 38 percent. Now at the time we did not have a tow vehicle so the dealer delivered the fifth wheel to a near by campground.

Oak Grove in Hatfield, PA is a year round campground. This is important. You want to find a campground that offers year round operations. You don't want to have to move out in the wintertime. A lot of camp grounds close from November to March or early April. When we started there our rent was $375 a month and included water and electric. Our only other expense was propane for heating and hot water. Oak Grove supplied 2- 100 lb propane tanks and they automatically changed the tanks for us. This is really nice, kind of like automatic oil delivery when you own a house. During the warmer months we hardly use any propane, maybe a bottle every other month if that. However, wintertime we will use 3-4 bottles a month due to the heater. Currently propane runs about $50 a bottle. So from the standpoint of renting an apartment to living in an RV expenses are normally cheaper. My daughter pays $750 a month for an apartment near us and we pay on average $425-450.

Other benefits of living in a RV - people! The people you find camping are the most wonderful folks you will ever come across. They are friendly, helpful, young at heart and just plain nice to be around. We have been avid campers since before we were married. I used to sneak down to DE where my wife (girlfriend at the time) and her family were camping and pitch a tent, then make myself part of the family. In the almost 40 years we have been together and camping we have never met anyone that was rude, a thief, or not willing to lend a hand if asked. In fact we have had more offers of help without asking than anytime we lived in a house or apartment.

It's funny, but when I traveled and stayed at hotels, you almost felt like a ghost or leopard or something. Heaven forbid if you said 'hi' to someone in the elevator or hallway. But when camping, everyone waves as you walk by, some will offer drinks or have you sit by the fire and chat for hours. Its like we are all family.

Speaking of fires, what is it about a campfire? To sit down at night around a nice campfire is so relaxing. Nothing needs to be said, just watch the flames and it seems all the stress just floats away. But campfires have another benefit, food. Nothing tastes better than food cooked over an open fire. Try doing that in an apartment.

Rving has another benefit, vacations. If you live in an apartment, you vacation consist of going to a destination, finding a hotel/motel, eating out every meal, and taking enough clothes with you for the length of the vacation. When you live in a RV, your home goes with you. 30-40 minutes to pack the RV, disconnect the utilities and hook up to the truck and you are on the road. When you get to your vacation destination, another 30-40 minutes and you are ready to enjoy the sites. Meals are not a problem, you have a complete kitchen already stocked just like at home, since it is home. On a special diet? No problem, you normal routine is uninterrupted. Clothes get dirty, a lot of RV come with washers and dryers, so you can do your laundry while relaxing in the evenings or before you get started for the day. Rving is usually cheaper too. When you compare the expenses you will find the RV trip is a lot cheaper than hotel/restaurant trip.

These are just a few of the things to consider when you look at living in an apartment verse living in a RV. I hope you have found the information useful.

How Do I Make My Penis Bigger? Three Rookie Techniques

How do I make my penis bigger? Considering that I was under six inches long for most of my life, that is a question whose answer I used to strive for constantly. Unfortunately, it took over a year for me to get it through my thick skull that the pills, potions, and gadgets I was using were doing nothing but deflating my wallet.

Once I discovered natural penis enlargement techniques and began making true penis gains for the first time, however, I never spent another dime on that garbage.

Here are three good natural penis enhancement techniques I recommend for rookies. Done properly and consistently, they should add close to an inch to your penis in six weeks.

1. Penis stretches. This one is very simple. Just take your flaccid penis and stretch it as far out in front of your body as it will go. Do it gently and gradually and hold it there for thirty seconds. Rest ten seconds between sets and repeat this at least ten times.

2. Jelqing. This is another great technique for rookies. Get your penis halfway erect, apply lubrication, and grip it tightly at the base with the thumb and forefinger of one hand. Slowly slide that hand up the shaft toward the tip, pushing as much blood into your penis as possible. When you reach the tip, immediately grip the base the same way using the other hand and repeat. Do this nonstop for ten minutes.

3. Ulis. This is a great exercise to increase girth. It is also very easy and does not take much time. Achieve a full erection and grip the base of your penis the same way you would if you were jelqing. Squeeze as hard as you can without causing discomfort. Your penis shaft should swell and your penis head should get big and shiny. Hold for ten seconds and rest for ten seconds. Repeat this three or four times.

Do this routine every other day and make sure you warm your penis up before each workout by wrapping it in a hot washcloth for five minutes.

Always remember, if you are not satisfied with what you were born with, it is never too late to do something about it!

Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers - A Painful Psychological Legacy

There are daughters of narcissistic mothers who have barely survived psychologically. In the extreme, there are daughters who starved themselves to death by anorexia as the only way they could find to salvage some small crumb of their existence. We know these daughters, even though their secrets of maternal deprivation and abuse are well camouflaged behind shining faces, glowing grades and strong professional portfolios. Trapped from early childhood, they are victims of a mother who was incapable of loving them.

The narcissistic mother is psychologically fused with her daughter. Her coldness and lack of empathy affect her child from the beginning. These mothers experience their daughters, not as unique individuals, but as extensions of themselves.

Narcissistic mothers sabotage their daughters efforts to become separate productive individuals. The narcissistic mother is envious of her daughter on every level. This becomes particularly pointed as her child moves into adolescence. Young men are beginning to take notice and indicate that they are sexually attracted to this young woman. This puts the narcissistic mother's back up. She feels a gnawing envy in her gut to compete with her daughter. The mother undermines her child, telling her a series of lies that shake her daughter's confidence in her feminine identity.

The hypnotic hold a narcissistic mother has on her daughter can be so strong and pathological that the child doesn't know what she is thinking or feeling. The narcissistic mother takes full credit for her daughter's achievements at the same time that she constantly criticizes and demeans her child for using initiative or having creative ideas. The daughter who dares to think for herself or who moves toward psychological individuation is heavily criticized, labeled as a rebel and striped of any meaningful role in the family.

The narcissistic mother frequently causes powerful and damaging psychological rifts between her children. Narcissistic mothers pit one sibling against the other and use conspiratorial secrets (often lies) to further poison and destroy the relationships between her children.

She will choose one child as the special one. Often this is a child who is particularly attractive physically, highly intelligent, or displays artistic or musical talent. This child is worshipped by the mother. The chosen child can do no wrong, even if he or she is cruel, mean and deceitful to others. The chosen child is the perfect incarnation of the mother. The narcissistic mother chooses another child as the loser. This daughter becomes the target and reservoir for the narcissistic mother's expression of her unconscious feelings of self hatred and worthlessness. This child is a living disposal for the narcissistic mother's toxic venom.

Narcissistic mothers are never satisfied. If the daughter receives B's in her classes, they could have been A's. "Just apply yourself, dear. What's the matter with you?" Narcissistic mothers are obsessed with image. If the target daughter is slightly overweight, the mother makes snide remarks about her child's body. You're looking a little thick around the middle; your upper arms are on the chubby side. Your friend Sandra is nice and thin. If you watched what you ate, you could be attractive like she is." Narcissistic mothers are relentlessly cruel and critical. They would discover flaws in the perfect daughter. This will always be true since the narcissistic mother suffers from a severe personality disorder. These individuals are completely self absorbed, cold, manipulative, deceitful, exploitive, and lacking in the slightest portion of human empathy.

Most daughters of narcissistic mothers survive this malignant abuse. They learn to block their strong emotions and dance to their mothers' tune to save themselves. Some daughters become highly rebellious, act out with drugs, alcohol or sex and leave the family prematurely.

Daughters of narcissistic mothers can heal through the work of psychotherapy. One of the first issues is acknowledging and grieving over the fact that they never had a real mother, someone who loved them and cared about them as a separate, valuable human being. Daughters learn that they are not  their mothers. As horribly as they were treated, some daughters spend their lives forming dysfunctional relationships with men who resemble their narcissistic mothers. They repeat the psychological patterns of childhood rather than work through the pain to transform it.

On the other side of the cauldron of transformation, daughters of narcissistic mothers are born for a second time. They are in touch with the loveliness of their bodies, the exquisite beauty of their minds and psyches and the vast depth of their souls. Now, they feel authentic---fully alive.

What Women Like in Bed

This list of things that women like in bed will apply to most women regardless of whether they like it rough or gentle. Most women like more than just the physical connection in bed and require some emotional connection as well to get them going. This emotional connection comes from all their senses and not just the act of doing it. So make sure to incorporate her touch, sight, and hearing,

These 3 ideas will bump up her pleasure during sex and they will also improve your skills at knowing what she wants in bed. Even if you don't believe me you should try it next time. I'm betting I will prove myself right considering I know women pretty well.

Making eye contact now and again.

Whether you stare into her eyes or give her quick glances that she can see make sure you give her some eye contact. Women love to know that their man is checking to see how she's reacting and what she feels by looking into her eyes. It also gives her a feeling that you really care about her as a woman and it validates her sexiness to you.

Touching her all over.

Make sure you touch her in more than just the usual spots. Start from the top and work your way to the bottom gliding over everything along the way. Women tend to associate your touch with you caring and acknowledging her. You are showing her that you think every part of her is irresistible to you. As an added bonus it also feels good and you'll hit those 'turn on' zones along the way.

Whispering in her ear something sexy.

Whispering in her ear uses two of her senses, her hearing and feeling abilities. She will like the soft sexy voice telling her how hot she is or how much you want her or how naughty she's been and she will melt feeling the soft wind in her ear. Whatever you choose make sure it's something she would like to hear and not something that will make her annoyed instead of turned on. If she doesn't like to hear that her butt is so awesomely huge then leave that out even if you really believe it.

Comfortaire Air Bed - Is it Better Than Sleep Number?

Almost everyone has heard of the Sleep Number (Select Comfort) Bed.

But fewer people, it seems, have heard of Comfortaire.

The Comfortaire bed is just like the Sleep Number bed in many ways. They both use air as the main supporting feature - instead of innersprings, water, memory foam, etc. And they both have adjustable firmness at the push of a button. More air in the mattress means more firmness, and vice versa.

Is Comfortaire better, worse or the same as Sleep Number?

To find this answer, among many others, I recently spent at least 250 hours going through almost 50 online forums, message boards, consumer websites, etc. gathering data from at least 1,600 people on what they think of their mattresses. Below are some of my findings on Sleep Number and Comfortaire.

Which is more comfortable?

Both beds rate highly in regard to comfort compared to other mattresses, according to my research. However, 90% of Comfortaire owners find their bed comfortable, while 70% of Sleep Number owners find their bed comfortable.

Which is more affordable?

Prices for the Sleep Number bed range generally from under $1,000 to nearly $5,000. Prices for Comfortaire beds are usually less, and range from under $1,000 to over $4,000.

Which seems to have better quality?

According to my research, about 8% of both Sleep Number and Comfortaire owners said that they view their bed as being of poor quality. However, 4% of Sleep Number owners said that they think their bed is good quality, while 17% of Comfortaire owners said they think their bed is good quality.

So what's the bottom line?

While the Sleep Number (Select Comfort) bed has many satisfied customers, Comfortaire seems to currently beat Sleep Number in some important ways, according to my research.

11 Neat Ways to Donate, Sell Or Give Away Used Books

Books, like many of our treasured belongings, often simply rot away on our shelves and become clutter because we no longer have a current need for them, but because we loved them, we don't want to just throw them away. But, left unused for long periods of time, the fate of our beloved books is to collect dust, turn yellow, fall apart, and even smell bad. Objects that go unused for years create stagnant or stuck energy in our homes that affect our mood, drain our energy and may even make it harder to function and use your storage shelves easily.

Is this what you intended when you bought the books? I know parting with books is challenging. It helps if you can focus on the benefits and value of passing them on. Like sharing the insights or entertainment you got out of the book with others.

By donating or giving away books you no longer need, you get to contribute value to others while also making more room in your own home or office to function with ease. Think of how much shelf space you could reclaim.

Plus, if you donate your books (including books on tape or CD) to a charity and itemize deductions, you can deduct the value of the books on your income tax return. Web-based tools like It's Deductible make it easy to figure out what the books are worth.

Where to Give Your Books Away

Your Local Library - Unfortunately, many libraries don't take book donations anymore. Also consider FIRSTBOOK.org - They don't take books, but you can donate to help kids in need get their "first books."

BONUS Clutter Flow Tip: Set up a donation bin, just as you would a recycle or trash bin. Collect books and other items you no longer need. Once a week, on the same day as trash day, check if the bag or box is full and donate as needed. I keep a donation back on a hook in my closet for clothing I no longer need. Automate the process any way you can and set up a reminder in your calendar or phone. Once you get in the habit it will feel almost effortless.

Cleaning a Mattress After Bed-Wetting

The best way of cleaning a mattress after bed-wetting is to wash it in bath-tub with warm water and a mild detergent and dry it under the sun, although this would take more than 2 days to dry. In the evening toss the mattress to the other side which would not have dried. Putting the mattress in a washing machine drier could be hazardous. Use urine gone to remove the urine odors and stains instantly. This is a spray that gives out a fantastic smell. Thus this is one of the easiest and most convenient ways to get rid of the bed wetting stains. If you are very particular about it, it is better that you follow this route.

Urine-off also helps you to get rid of urine odour and other related issues. Although not dirt cheap it is worth trying. Using this method will also be a great help for you. This method is also an easy to follow method which will very quickly help you in getting rid of the urine stains and smell.

Cleaning a mattress after bed-wetting is an ardent task. If the mattress is not attended to immediately by taking the necessary precautions; dampness and urine odor with encourage bed-bugs and other insects to feast on your mattress and create unnecessary havoc when you are sleeping on it.

Hydrogen peroxide if used in the right way could create wonders on your mattress; it takes away the smell and the stains in just a few seconds.

Cover your mattress with a plastic sheet and avoid embarrassment and discomfort. But this should be absorbed before it trickles and overflows over some other surface. Cleaning a vinyl sheet is child's play. Wiping the cover with a disinfectant is probably the easiest and the fastest way. These vinyl sheets work out economical, can easily be cleaned, are durable, no one can guess unless told about vinyl mattress protector being used. This cover thus saves a plenty of time, work and energy and saves one from discomfort, embarrassment and inconvenience. But never put the vinyl cover in the washing machine drier. Diapers would also limit the cleaning up process and avoid unnecessary stains and odour.

The best way to make the child responsible and conscious of his action would be to take his help while cleaning up the mattress after bed-wetting, and also by asking him to place fresh sheets over the bed. Another thing that can be of great value to you in this regard would be the bed wetting alarm. If your child is in the habit of bed wetting, use bed wetting alarms to get rid of these issues. Bed wetting alarms have proved themselves to be really helpful to parents in this regard.

10 Ways To Build Positive Self Esteem In Children

One of the core things we can all agree on as parents is that helping a child to develop positive self-esteem is very important. It is one of the corner stones to a mentally healthy life. Positive self-esteem allows children to be brave and reach out to try new things. Without knowing it, a positive feeling of self-worth allows children to fail without being failures. A parent, who through actions, shows a child that no matter what he does he is loved, helps their child develop a positive sense of belonging. And it is the belief that they belong, that what they say and do matters, empowers children to have self-respect.

We have modified ten ways to build self-esteem that we found on-line at the parent center.

1) Give unconditional love. A child's self-esteem flourishes with the kind of no-strings-attached devotion that says, "I love you, no matter who you are or what you do." Your child benefits the most when you accept her for who she is regardless of her strengths, difficulties, temperament, or abilities. So lavish her with love. Give her plenty of cuddles and kisses. And don't forget to tell her how much you love her. When you do have to correct your child, make it clear that it's her behavior - not her - that's unacceptable. Instead of saying, "You're a naughty girl! Why can't you be good?" say, "Pushing Olivia isn't nice. It can hurt. Please don't push."

2) Pay attention. Carve out time to give your child your undivided attention. That does wonders for your child's self-worth because it sends the message that you think he's important and valuable. It doesn't have to take a lot of time; it just means taking a moment to stop flicking through the mail if he's trying to talk with you or turning off the TV long enough to answer a question. Make eye contact, so it's clear that you're really listening to what he's saying. When you're strapped for time, let your child know it without ignoring his needs. Say, "Tell me all about the picture you drew, and then when you're finished, I'll need to finish my work."

3) Teach limits. Establish a few reasonable rules. For instance, if you tell your child she has to eat in the kitchen, don't let her wander around the family room or sit at the computer eating the next day. Knowing that certain family rules are set in stone will help her feel more secure. It may take constant repetition on your part, but she'll start to live by your expectations soon enough. Just be clear and consistent and show her that you trust her and expect her to do the right thing.

4) Offer choices. A good rule of thumb: Let your child choose between possibilities that make you comfortable. He'll gain confidence with each opportunity to make a decision. Letting him know that you have faith in his judgment increases your child's sense of self-worth.

5) Support healthy risks. Encourage your child to explore something new, such as trying a different food, including a new best pal in weekend plans, or going on a camp trip. Though there's always the possibility of failure, without risk there's little opportunity for success. So let your child experiment safely, and resist the urge to intervene. For instance, try not to "rescue" her if she's showing mild frustration at figuring out how to navigate or decide on which extra curricular activity she will participate. Jumping in to outline the options without being asked can foster dependence and diminish your child's confidence. You'll build her self-esteem by balancing your need to protect her with her need to tackle new tasks.

6) Let mistakes happen. The flip side, of course, of having choices and taking risks is that sometimes your child is bound to make mistakes. These are valuable lessons for your child's confidence. When you goof up yourself, admit it, says Daniel Meier, assistant professor of elementary education at San Francisco State University. Acknowledging and recovering from your mistakes sends a powerful message to your child - it makes it easier for your child to accept his own shortcomings.

7) Make success a snap. Set clear non-negotiable boundaries and then allow her to make decisions within them. By giving her structure and the resources to take care of her own needs, you'll help foster independence and pride in her ability to do things for herself.

8) Celebrate the positive. It's sometimes too easy to tally up all the things a child does wrong, but everyone responds well to encouragement, so make an effort to acknowledge the good things your child does every day within his earshot. For instance, tell his dad, "Mike took out the trash this morning." He'll bask in the glow of your praise and his dad's heartening response. And be specific. Instead of saying "Good job," say, "Thank you for waiting so patiently in line at the store for me." This will enhance his sense of accomplishment and self-worth and let him know exactly what he did right.

9) Listen well. If your child needs to talk, stop and listen to what she has to say. She needs to know that her thoughts, feelings, desires, and opinions matter. Help her get comfortable with her emotions by labeling them. Say, "I know you're sad because camp is over." By accepting her emotions without judgment, you validate her feelings and show that you value what she has to say. If you share your own feelings ("I'm excited about going to the play with you"), she'll gain confidence in expressing her own.

10) Provide encouragement. Every child needs the kind of support from her loved ones that signals, "I believe in you. I see you trying. Keep going!" Encouragement means acknowledging progress - not just rewarding achievement. It means thanking your child for cleaning her room, even if she missed some under her bed. It means smiling in support as she struggles to complete a task, in spite of it not being the exact way you would have completed it.

There's a difference between praise and encouragement. One rewards the task while the other rewards the person ("You did it!" rather than "I'm proud of you!"). Praise can make a child feel that she's only "good" if she does something perfectly. Encouragement, on the other hand, acknowledges the effort. "Tell me about your game. I see that you scored" is more helpful than saying, "Your team won that is great." Too much praise can sap self-esteem because it can create pressure to perform and set up a continual need for approval from others. So dole out the praise judiciously and offer encouragement liberally; it will help your child grow up to feel good about herself.

Loft Beds for Small Spaces - An Amazing Solution for Many Reasons

By using loft beds for small spaces, you can easily maximize a bedroom's efficiency without compromising its beauty. In modern times, the bedroom has become a place for more than just a bed. People enjoy using their bedrooms as study halls, dressing rooms, game rooms and television nooks. Loft beds for small spaces allow for these many activities, without having to compromise space, comfort or beauty.

Sleep On High, Work with Both Feet On The Ground

Loft beds elevate one's sleeping space to a comfortable height, thereby creating extra space in the room for other activities. On its own, a loft bed creates extra floor space that offers endless possibilities. This space can be utilized for an extra dresser, a desk, a chair, or as additional floor space for children to play. When paired with other furniture, a loft bed creates a room that is both serviceable and stylish - even in the smallest of spaces.

One of the most efficient loft beds for small spaces is a loft bed with desk that utilizes the same space for both homework and sleeping. With a loft bed and desk set, college students who frequently struggle to work in the confined space of their dorm rooms will have ample room in which to study. Likewise, children with small bedrooms will be able to develop strong study habits when they can do their homework at their desks.

Loft Beds Keep a Room Tidy

It's also a great choice to use loft beds for small spaces because of the extra storage capabilities that they provide. The ability to place matching dressers under a loft bed creates an elegant look in even the smallest of bedrooms and prevents clutter and clothing from piling up on the floor. If extra drawer space is not needed, the space below a loft can accommodate a bookcase to showcase a collection of books, toys or knickknacks. The addition of a bed shelf attached to the side of the loft bed is another easy way to add extra storage space to a room without giving the room a crowded feel.

The space under a loft can also be used as a bunk bed to create extra sleeping space for children or guests. Put a single or full sized bed under a loft to create extra sleeping accommodations for special days or for everyday.

The Beauty of Loft Beds

With a loft bed, it is possible to maximize the efficiency of a small space while maintaining the room's decor. Loft beds constructed from a light colored wood will create the illusion of space and depth in a small room. Darker wood finishes, however, will capture a look of sophistication in even the smallest of rooms. Available in a variety of wood and metal finishes, loft beds create unparalleled efficiency and beauty in every small space. And with so many beautiful and functional accessories from which to choose, loft beds can transform every small room into the room of the perfect size.

Four Ways Childrens Bunk Beds Solve Decorating Problems

Kids have always loved bunk beds because their imaginations easily turn a space-saving sleeping arrangement into tents, castles, and pirate ships. Today's Childrens Bunk Beds provide the original advantages and many new ones. If you are considering redecorating your kids' rooms and want a practical, stylish solution, here are four reasons you should consider these beds:

1. They are Made in a Variety of Materials

Many parents choose pine, oak, or even plywood bunk beds because wooden bunk beds tend to be light and sturdy. They are also decorative in their natural colors or can be painted to match a room. Bunk beds are also made in metal, which can add an interesting look. Metal beds are also less expensive, but not as sturdy as wooden ones.

2. These Beds Save Space

If you have a small room to work with or need to create a comfortable bedroom for two or more children, bunks allow you to utilize valuable vertical space. You can use the traditional top-and-bottom twin bed style or a larger bottom bed and twin top. There are also designs which provide a loft instead of a top bed. You might also choose beds with built-in storage, or a trundle bed. As children grow it is even possible to convert a bottom bunk into a desk area.

3. You Can Create a Designer Bedroom

Today's Childrens Bunk Beds offer design options to fit any decorating theme. Besides a range of colors and styles, you have a choice of interesting ladders, steps and rails. It is possible to configure beds in many ways other than the traditional double-stacked twin beds. They can include a bed over a futon, a computer area, or even a complete workstation.

4. Bunk Beds Can Provide Practical Fun

Despite the many ways that Childrens Bunk Beds save space and money, their biggest attraction is still the fun factor. You can create an entire theme around the beds by mixing and matching accessories. Additions such as colorful steps, drawers, desks and tents can change a room's look and create a play space kids will love.

Bunk beds have lost none of their kid appeal over the years. The only thing that's changed is that now parents have more reasons to love Childrens Bunk Beds as much as their kids do.

20 Non-Food Rewards For Your Kids

When you are looking for a quick reward for your children, fast food, ice cream cones and candy are easy solutions... easy, but not healthy. If you are working toward healthier eating habits for your family, or just motivation for them to complete their chores, think beyond cookies. Here are twenty rewards that kids love. These treats add to your relationship rather than their waists.

Imagine the homework and chores being completed without complaint. How? Offer your children what they want most. If you are like most parents, stopping to play one-on-one with your kids rarely happens between loads of laundry, meals and homework. You can create a win-win situation by rewarding your children with your time and focus... the two things they love the most.

Simply knowing that they are working toward a reward motivates them and makes chores or multiplication tables more tolerable. Here are some family favorites.

1. Kid choice: set the timer for 15-30 minutes, and tell your child they get to tell you what to do until the timer goes off. Your child does not want you to answer the phone.

2. Let your child take pictures with your cell phone, and you guess what they are, then switch.

3. Play catch on the steps, with them sitting at the top

4. Painting, coloring, or craft time with Mom

5. Play a game or put together a puzzle together on the kitchen table, or online.

6. A two-player computer or Wii game, child vs. parent

7. A game of hide and seek with mom or dad... either hide yourself, or hide small toys and they find them.

8. Play keep-away with Daddy: floor wrestling

9. Set up an obstacle course and run it with the kids

10. Go on an outing: pick apples; explore by the river. Pick up one of their friends on the way and let them join in the fun.

11. Buy them a new book or ball and enjoy it with them.

12. Swim WITH them.

13. Walk with them while they scooter or ride a little bike.

14. Play Pig! Shoot some baskets together

15. A friend sleep-over, or assist your teen to meet her friends somewhere

16. A scavenger hunt you make for them

17. A pillow fight on mom's bed

18. Play i-spy together

19. Family bike ride or visit to your playground

20. Read a favorite book or watch a family movie together

If rewards alone are not helping get the homework done, perhaps your children are overwhelmed. Let them know how long the task will take, and what fun awaits them when it is completed. Teach them to break large tasks in to bite-size pieces. Try making a list of small tasks and and let them cross them off as they are completed.

Make sure that you help them through a new task the first time. Don't assume they know how. Fear of doing something incorrectly, or being judged harshly turns chores into arguments. Go easy on them at first with lots of encouragement and little criticism. Even if the results are not stellar the first few attempts, eventually the child will achieve a comfort level with the task and take pride in doing it well.

Teaching Kids to Make Their Bed

What age do you teach a child to make their bed? I say as soon as they go from a crib to a toddler bed. Why wait? Children are very teachable at a young age and once it becomes a routine it will be something they expect to do on a daily basis. Now you can't expect your child to make their own bed if you don't make yours as they will question why you say one thing and do another. Consistency in teaching children is a key factor in their learning to do simple tasks.

Teaching your child to make the bed is easier when they go from a crib to a toddler bed, or from a toddler bed to a regular size bed as it is a new transition. It is also a great time to let them help pick out some new kids bedding and personalized bedroom decor to give them a sense of ownership. Having new kids bedding is exciting and simple as a new comforter can transform the look of a room. It also makes them feel like they are a big kid now. If they have been in a big kid bed for awhile now you can still follow the steps outlined below. Remember it is never too late to teach a child to make their bed.

In the beginning you will need to help them each day to get them in the habit of making their bed. Morning routines are important. I recommend when the child gets out of bed they use the bathroom and brush their teeth before anything else. Once that is done with your help they make the bed. Habits begin early.

Step 1 - Show them by example how to make a bed. If they want to help you right away let them. Encourage them by telling them it takes some big muscles to make a bed.

Step 2 - Make it simple and fun. You might even want to set a timer to see if you can "Beat the Clock"! You stand on one side of the bed and have your child stand on the other side. And have your child copy what you do. Another fun way to get them to do what you do is a simple quick game of "Simon Says".

Step 3 - Each of you take the top corner of the top sheet and at the same time pull it up where you like to have it. Repeat the same thing with the blanket and again with the kids comforter, quilt, or bedspread. If one side is uneven show your child how to make it even. Smooth out any wrinkles. Then place the pillow at the head of the bed.

Step 4 - Praise them on how big they are and what a big help they are! Children genuinely like to please their parents and they respond much better with praise.

Step 5 - Time to eat breakfast.

Kids Race Car Beds Keep Kids in the Bed

A kids race car bed might be just what your little car enthusiast needs to get him and keep him in his bed at night.

All parents have seen it before. Their child fears the boogeyman, the shadows on the wall and monsters under the bed are going to get him. So, he tiptoes into your room and spends the rest of his night in his parents' safety. But as he grows, this rerun gets old, and you wish to spend just one night without a little hand or foot in your face.

Make a child's favorite fantasy come to life with a bed. A car lover's imagination can run wild with a kids race car bed. Your little automobile aficionado can win NASCAR races, speedily drive from evil villains and do flips and tricks like Lightning McQueen all in time for dinner. Then, when bed time arrives, he will not argue with getting into his bed shaped like a race car.

But will he stay in it the entire night? Many parents who have reviewed this type of bed have found themselves waking up without a boy snuggled in their bed. Instead, he is busy conquering evil during the day and dreaming of racing escapades at night. Yes, this bed can get your boy restfully snoozing in his own bed all night long.

Many kids race car beds have fun stickers, bright colors and realistic wheel and hubcap detailing, a feature young boys will adore. Parents will be pleased with the bed's heavy duty plastic and rounded edges, making it both able to withstand your son's adventures and safe enough for when he might go off the road, so-to-speak.

Although some themed-beds are too small for growing boys, many come in a twin size, which can fit average-sized teenagers. Therefore, your boy could be a race car driving legend, along with the help of a kids race car bed.

Specialty Junior Beds For Girls

Junior beds are great beds to help your child grow into a regular bed. For little girls, there are many specialty junior beds that are even more appealing and enticing than a regular junior bed. Below are a few specialty beds that you can buy for your little girl. Remember, compared to the regular junior bed, these specialty beds will be a bit more expensive, especially since they are much more decorated. However, the extra cost could be worth the money, especially if you are trying to decorate your child's room or helping her ease into her own bed.

Frett Hollywood Junior bed
This is perhaps the most expensive child's bed on the market. It can cost anywhere from $1500 to $2500 depending on how many accessories you purchase along with it. This is a beautiful bed that measure about 52 inches in diameter and 16 inches high. The bed is decorated all in pink, perfect for your little one who is your princess. At the top of the bed is a hand-forged dome of ornate ironwork that will fit under any standard eight-foot ceiling. The ironwork allows the extra curtains around the bed to be hung around the side. The headboard and round bottom are also pink and pink satin sheets are added to it for your child's comfort.

Little Miss Liberty Hollywood Junior Bed
This is a bed that is similar to the Frett bed but doesn't have the ironwork or the curtains hanging on the side. This is also a round bed with a small headboard for your child. The same sheets decorate the edges. This one is much cheaper than the Frett one since you don't have the ironwork. It will cost around $1300.

Woodland White Junior Loft Tent Bed with slide
This bed is wonderful because it has a little castle on the side and a slide at the top for your child to slide down. Your little girl will love the castle and will get to pretend that she is a princess. She can also climb inside the castle tower to pretend that she is living in a castle. The bed is pink with decorated purple edges. It is a loft bed so your child will sleep on top while during the day, she can play with her friends underneath the bed. Right underneath is a tent area where your child can set-up any number of toys and games. Finally, the sturdy wood construction makes it a great and safe option for your little girl. This loft bed will only cost around $600 or less.

There are other beds that you can purchase for your little girl. Some will come in pink or white so you can easily decorate them. Others will come in the shape of a castle or cloud. The above options are definitely indulgences, but your little girl will love these junior beds.

Bible Science Experiments for Kids: Use Quarters to Demonstrate God's Protection

Many Christians wonder how to know the will of God in their lives. One wise man suggested, "It is easier to turn a moving ship than a still ship." He meant that if you keep moving and trying out various choices, God will "turn you" and get you moving in the right direction. He'll close a door if it's not the right one and give you signs along the way. Such is better than trying to figure out God's will by doing nothing-simply sitting still.

By trying this motion Bible science experiment with your Sunday School class, we can demonstrate lots about finding God's will in our lives.

Bible Science Experiment Instructions:

1. To begin, each child will need a quarter.
2. Have students put their elbow out in front of them so that the part of their arm from the elbow to the wrist is parallel to the floor
3. turn their wrist so their palm is facing up
4. place a quarter maybe an inch from their elbow on the top, flat part of their arm
5. drop their arm very quickly with an open hand

Ask the children: "Did you catch the quarter? Almost? Try it again!"

After a few tries, most students can catch the quarter so easily that they are amazed. It's as if the quarter "wanders" into their hands if they drop their arm fast enough.

Scientific Explanation for the Kids:

"The quarter is in a state of inertia when you start out. The force of gravity will definitely pull it downward once you drop your elbow, but the fall is slow getting started due to inertia. Your arm, however, is already in motion, moving rapidly as you drop your elbow quickly. Hence it has time to catch the quarter before inertia gives way to the gravitational pull."

Experiment's Link to the Bible:

Ask the kids: "Have you ever been in such a big jam that you thought not even God could get you out of it? God often lets us suffer the consequences of our actions, and even the best of people will have their faith tested. You can feel a lot like that quarter in the Bible science experiment -like you're going to hit the ground and die due to some scary circumstance in your life. But Psalm 37:24 says that though men frequently fall a ways, man will not be utterly cast down-will not hit the ground with a splatter! Why? Because for the Lord upholds us in his hand. No matter what our scary problem or how much like falling it feels, God is swift enough and strong enough to catch us!"

Benefits of Healthy Eating For Kids

Children's growth and development depend very much on the foods they are fed and the benefits of healthy eating for kids is detailed in this article to alert parents to the dangers of neglecting this aspect of the child's development. Balanced, nutritious meals are a must for every growing child because the benefits transcend into adulthood. Poor diet leads to obesity and a host of medical and psychological problems for the child.

For those of us not aware of it there is a good guide pyramid, which can help us better understand the different food groups. All of our food is divided into grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy products and meats, beans, poultry, fish and nuts. Your child gets a balanced diet when all the food groups are covered. There are some groups where the intake needs to be lesser than the others, such as the oils and meats.

The benefits of healthy eating for kids will not be felt if you blindly follow the food groups. For example an apple in its natural state will do more for your child's well being and overall good health than an apple pie with sugar would.

For children to develop healthy eating habits the parents will need to lead by example. It is always advisable to start a child out eating right from a very small age because this becomes habit forming. You should never put a child on a restrictive diet without the approval and supervision of a pediatrician. Overweight children go through quite a lot of trauma as a result of their size and all of this can be avoided if the parents take onus for ensuring that the children eat the right kinds of healthy nutritious foods they need.

Given below are some ideas on how to draw on the benefits of healthy eating for kids:

o You can guide your family's choices by doing the shopping right; never dictate it will not go down well. Make sure your home has plenty of healthy foods like fruit and vegetables, yoghurts and dips that you can turn into healthy meals and snacks for the family. Don't stock up on crisps and other junk food no matter how attractive the packaging and how easy it makes the shopping, to simply load up the trolley with a bunch of pre-packaged foods for kids.

o Make mealtimes a family affair with a lot of happy talk and exchange of ideas. This will help children to eat more slowly. Gobbling food will not help a child differentiate between a full and overfull stomach. When there is fun and laughter at the table you will find your children wanting to stay put and take the meal at a slow pace.

o Take your children with you when you go shopping and when you prepare meals as much as possible. Take the time to learn about their preferences and use the opportunities to teach them about the importance of nutrition and the benefits of healthy eating for kids.

o It is no secret that children enjoy snacking between meals and plenty of low fat milk and fruit should be the healthy alternatives. Try to avoid over eating at any cost. Always remember that what you don't have at home your children cannot eat - so throw out the junk food!

Exercising and being active goes hand in glove with eating right so make use of this article to better understand the benefits of healthy eating for kids.

It has a strong wire or rod that helps to give the mattress a nice firm edge as well as keeping its shape. There is nothing worse than a mattress that loses its shape as you end up stuck in a dip that can be uncomfortable!

If you are after a more luxurious bed mattress, the pocket spring mattress could be perfect for you. The great thing about this mattress is that the springs respond to a person's body weight so it is perfect if there is a size variation between two or more people.

Another great mattress that is said to last twenty years or more is the foam mattress. If you choose a high quality foam mattress, it can offer great support by giving good pressure relief to the body.

How to Choose the Right Mattress

When it comes to buying a new mattress, it needs to be a decision that has had some thought put into it. Also, you shouldn't compromise with a mattress, as a good quality one can last around ten years or more. It is a good idea to buy the best mattress that you can afford and it will certainly be a great investment if it helps you to get a great night's sleep every single night.

As you can see, it is important to get a comfortable and reliable bed mattress in order to give you the best possible chance of getting a decent night's sleep. Before you decide to buy a mattress, it may be a great idea to test them out first. If you have been used to a certain type, try something new. It may not be the best suited to you or it may be different than you expected. It can sometimes take a while to get used to a new mattress, so it is imperative to bear this in mind.

Birthday Party Places For Kids Of All Ages

Most birthday parties for kids are held at the kid's home. If the party is planned right, that could be lots of fun. But there are many birthday party places for kids, and some aren't all that expensive.

For example, there are many indoor family centers that offer birthday group packages. Many have miniature golf and rides, and of course games to play. I'm frankly not crazy about these places, because there could be 10 parties going on at the same time. So if you want to have your kid's birthday party at one of these places, it's best to have it in the morning.

I think if it were my kid though, I'd rather have a party at a place where kids birthday parties are less common. That way the kids can get more attention. The exception of course is a theme park or something, where kids can be left alone to have fun.

Amusement parks are a lot of fun, especially theme parks. These amusement places with rides are great for all ages, because at the larger parks there are rides from babies to adults. In fact, these are great places for teens; you can take them all to a theme park and buy them all tickets and pick them up later.

If you'd want your kids to learn something on their birthday, you can also take them to a museum. Some museums are dusty and dull, but the ones that are best for parties are hands-on, where kids can play with the exhibits. Some museums offer special group tours for kids too.

Many places around the US are now featuring children's museums. These places would be great for a birthday party. Some have special theme parties they can host, which include admission to the museum.

Not only museums, but aquariums, planetariums (kids love those), zoos, arboretums, even forest preserves often plan parties for birthdays. Most of these places have special shows too, like playing with dolphins or feeding the sharks.

Water parks are a another good place to spend a happy birthday. The only problem is that, unless they are indoors, they are seasonal. But water parks are lots of fun, offer numerous rides, and are generally inexpensive and clean!

Bowling alleys can be good inexpensive fun too. Generally they are not the best party places for kids under 9 though, but again many alleys offer packages for birthday parties.

One great place to spend a happy birthday is on a boat ride. They have those large boats around here that serve lunch and go on sightseeing tours. They always organize food and games for kids. And the adults don't have to worry about the kids running off, because where are they gonna go? Once again
though, unless you live in a warm state, boat rides are seasonal.

So I hope this gave you some different ideas on places to have birthday parties. Wherever you plan them, the important thing is for the kids to have fun and not be bored. Good luck!

6 Tips For Dealing With Your Child's Bed Wetting

Bed wetting in children is such a common challenge that many parents simply resign themselves to the thought that they'll have to deal with the issue until their children get older and outgrow bed wetting. Fortunately, there are steps that can be taken to help lessen the frequency of these middle of the night incidents.

1. Be Realistic

Understand that it's not uncommon for children to be wetting the bed up until the age of 6 and 7. Sure, at that age they are potty trained, but potty training doesn't extend into the hours when they are asleep. Be sure to let you kids know they aren't alone in the bed wetting department. It's been estimated at up to 5% of children as old as ten years old wet the bed. So that means that out of 100 fifth graders, there are likely 5 in the group that are bed wetters.

2. Shut Down The Fluids

Have your child drink plenty of fluids during the early part of the day and limit their intake after 6 or 7 PM.

3. Wake Your Child Up At Midnight

If you hit the sack after your late local news every night, wake your child up and have them go to the bathroom. Or, if you are up in the night to urinate, make it a father / son event.

4. Buy Pull Ups For Night Time Use

In an effort to limit the psychological stress your child may feel, consider having them wear absorbent underwear. They make all sorts of different types these days, so your child won't feel embarrassed. They also make absorbent bed pads now, so you can simply throw it away after an accident.

5. Use An Alarm

Bed Wetting Alarms are an excellent way to help train a child that they need to wake up when they need to urinate. The downside is that the training process can take some time and the alarm is super loud, so everyone in the house will likely be woken up. Over time, a child's full bladder will signal the child to wake up.

6. Be Patient

Understand that all children outgrow this situation at a rate close to 15% a year. That's of little comfort when you are faced with this issue every night, but it does mean that they will indeed outgrow bed wetting. Of course no child wants to wet the bed - it's not only embarrassing, it's unpleasant, cold and uncomfortable. Don't make fun of your child or harass them about bed wetting because they already feel bad enough about it.

In the end, continue to remind yourself that bed wetting is an issue that you won't have to deal with over the long term and that it's something you can look back on years down the road and joke about with your child. Just don't do the joking until well after the bed wetting has stopped!

How to Get Rid of Bed Bugs With Bed Bug Powder

Our Story:

Hello my name is Stephen. About 2 Years ago we moved into our dream house. One morning my wife noticed several red itchy bites, at first we thought they were mosquitoes... Well we were wrong, it turned out we had a terrible infestation of bedbugs. We tried everything to get rid of bed bugs with sprays, over the counter remedies and even shelled out a few hundred dollars for an exterminator, guess what, after a few weeks they were back and as hungry as ever!

Fed up at this point we decided to do some research on our own. After several weeks of reading and many nights of itching we finally discovered a safe alternative to costly sprays and exterminators, one that was 100% natural and safe to kids and our pets. After a week the bed bugs were completely gone.

My Wife made a great suggestion, "Why don't we go ahead and package this amazing Bed Bug Powder

so other people don't have to go through what we did!"

Thanks to that great suggestion our powder has helped hundreds of people finally get some sleep. But don't thank me... Thank my wonderful Wife.

What is a Bed Bug?:

Definition:

This insect is a small nocturnal insect of the family Cimicidae that lives by hematophagy, or by feeding on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded hosts. How many times have you heard, "Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite"? This lighthearted rhyme doesn't diminish the creep factor of these tiny six-legged insects that hide during the day and feast on your blood at night.

The common bed bug is a reddish-brown insect that doesn't grow much longer than 0.2 inches (0.5 centimeters). They inject an anticoagulant to keep your blood flowing as they suck, along with a numbing agent to keep you from feeling them when they're at work.

They are known to spread disease to humans, although they may be host to the organisms that cause hepatitis B and Chagas' disease. Treatment of bed bug bites usually involves self care, but in more severe cases you may need to see your doctor.

Symptoms:

Signs and symptoms of these bites will usually affect only the surface of your skin, revealing themselves as small itchy red bumps known as papules or wheals. You might find the lesions in a linear or clustered fashion, indicative of repeated feedings by a single bug.

Some people may develop allergic reactions or larger skin reactions such as:

* Large, itchy wheals up to 8 inches (20 centimeters) across

* Blister-like skin inflammations

* Groups of small, swollen sacs of pus

* Skin rashes similar to hives

A Safe Remedy:

To humans and pets Bed Bug Powder is as harmless as talcum powder, it's even safe enough for the top of your mattress, but to these tiny insects it's like walking over tiny razor blades. It cuts through their skin and they quickly die from dehydration, usually in hiding. Unlike common bed bug killer sprays and liquids that simply dry up after a few hours, it will not wear out or become ineffective so it can lasts for weeks or even months.

Why Liquid Sprays Do Not Work:

We used this powder based killer due to the fact that many liquid bed bug sprays are contact killers, meaning that they must be sprayed directly on the bed bug to be effective. In addition, the product evaporates quickly and has no lasting effect. These bugs are excellent at hiding and as such this approach most often fails. There are also many studies suggesting that bed bugs are becoming resistant to the liquid active ingredient (synthetic pyrethroids) in 98% of all pesticides on the market in the USA.

Different Types of Kids Beds

There are a large variety of kids beds available on the market with different names and recommended age restrictions and the choice can be overwhelming. The following advice is aimed at making choosing a kids bed a little bit easier.

Standard bunk beds - there are a number of different types of bunk bed. A standard bunk bed will have two beds the same stacked one on top of the other. A single over double bunk bed has a single bed stacked above a double bed. A futon bunk is arranged like a standard bunk bed but with a futon bed underneath. An L shaped bunk arranges the beds so that they appear in an L shape. The top bed of a bunk bed arrangement is only suitable for children age 6 and over. These beds are great for children who share a bedroom or children who have friends who sleepover.

Midi or Cabin Beds - are excellent kids beds for rooms with limited space. Midi beds usually have built in drawers and cupboards underneath the bed unit and often incorporate a pull out desk. Some Midi beds have under-bed curtains and leave the space underneath the bed free to be used as a play tent for children or as storage space for larger toys. Midi beds are lower than bunk beds and high sleepers and are suitable for younger children.

Toddler Beds - If your child is making the transition from cot to toddler bed you will probably want to look for a bed that sits low to the ground and incorporates features such as curved corners and scratch-proof coatings. Cot/Beds are also available, when your child has finished with the cot it can be adapted easily into a first time toddler bed.

High Sleepers - are a great idea for older children where space in their bedroom is at a premium. Many high sleepers have wardrobes, computer desks, drawers or seating areas underneath them. High Sleepers are available in a variety of materials, colours and configurations.

Single Beds - the range of single beds available is also huge. With metal beds, wooden beds, beds which come in plain colours or beds which are themed such as racer car beds, Thomas the Tank Engine Beds and nautical themed kids beds.

There is a fantastic choice available in Children's bedroom furniture and armed with the right facts and figures choosing should be a simpler task.

Sharing the Family Bed

One hugely controversial topic in the parenting realm is the idea of family bed sharing. Is it a means to forming strong family bonds or a way to ensure that kids will never sleep in their own beds without a struggle?

In our house, the rule of thumb is that once the kids are weaned to a bottle, they are expected to sleep in their own rooms. The parent's bed is only for the parents. This, in part, is due to the fact that my husband has serious back problems and cannot bear to sleep in compromising positions. We also share the belief that our bed is the place where we can strengthen marital bonds and should not have to move kids into their own beds, in the middle of the night, to do so. I could not imagine how non existent our sex life would be if we allowed our kids to make themselves at home in our bed.

It has been shown that kids who sleep in a family bed have trouble self soothing. Newborns who share a bed with their parents are at a greater risk of SIDS. Kids also experience a lack of REM sleep. The same can be said for their parents. Also, what happens when these kids get older and sleep over at a friend's house?

I'm pretty sure that the parents of Jr's playmate will not be too thrilled when they get a 3 o'clock visit from him, requesting to share the bed space. It just seems like the positive aspect of bonding is far outweighed by the negative aspects. Maybe the answer is to spend more day light hours bonding, in order to get some spousal bonding at night. Then again, some people do not mind the lack of alone time. It really is an individual preference matter.

Comic Books For Kids

When you walk into your local comic shop with your kids, they might run over to the most popular titles like The Amazing Spider-Man or X-Men, but these books may not necessarily be the best choice for youngsters. The stories are complicated, mature, and deal with subjects that may be over the heads of kids under the age of 12. So what should you look for when your 5 year old son wants some cool comics? Read on for a quick look at some recommended titles.

The Super Hero Squad by Marvel Comics is based on the Cartoon Network animated series and features characters made famous through comics over the years like Captain America, The Silver Surfer, and Iron Man. The drawings are done in a very cartoonish style and the stories are short capers where the violence is purely slapstick. This comic is a great choice for the youngest of readers because it's fun and colorful to look at even before a child can fully read, and if your kid is anything like mine, they already know the names of all the characters. There's usually two or three stories in each issue.

The Tiny Titans is an Eisner Award winning series from DC comics that features the characters from DC's Teen Titans series, again drawn in a very cartoony style. The characters are set in an Elementary school type of environment and the focus is on running gags and jokes rather than any kind of serious story. This book has been popular ever since it was introduced as part of the industry's "Free Comic Book Day".

Sonic the Hedgehog comics, published by Archie Comics is a popular kids series based on the Sega video game character that was introduced about twenty years ago. For some reason, the comic book has always been much more popular than any kind of animated TV series based on the same characters. The comic is colorful with a lot of cute characters, and never reaches any kind of extreme levels of violence. It's definitely intended purely for kids.

If you start with comics like these, you should be able to build a nice library of comic books for the kids in your homes. These comics are currently being published on a monthly basis, and are available at your local comic shop or at all quality book shops.
