How Are Sofa Beds Perfect For Your Teenager's Bedroom?
There are a few key factors to designing a teenager's bedroom and sofa beds fulfill more than just one of those requirements. First of all, it would be wise to keep in mind that your teenager (I'm being careful here not to make them sound like household pets!) will likely be occupying that room for a fair few years. So while the general decor may change with their own throes of individuality, the furniture will usually remain and the layout rarely alters unless it's done wrong in the first place.
Next on the agenda would be the issue of space, or more specifically, storage space. By the time we're well established in adulthood, we've bought just about all the bits and pieces we're going to. Of course there are always new additions and toys, but for the most part when something new is bought, something old is replaced. Teenagers however, don't have a lot of stuff when they start out. Give them a few years and their rate of accumulation skyrockets. Sofa beds increase usable space in a bedroom and you can use this space for DVDs, a desk, homework folders etc.
The teenager's bedroom is an expression of who they are, or at least, who they are at that present moment in time. They may go from pink, to blue, to deep red with black splashed around the place... but it's their expression. The decor may be simple or extravagant, but it's usually better to let them make their own decisions and support them, appreciating that it'll only likely last a year or so. They'll appreciate it as well and ultimately, you owe it to them to give them their very own space.
Sofa beds become relevant at this point since the selection is now endless and the quality is... well I'll say it; it makes the sofa beds cool. It's no hassle turning it from bed to sofa, many teenagers would like both but space doesn't usually allow for it, as mentioned earlier. The sofa bed, its bedding and its style can match the teenager's style and is simple enough to change, adapt and evolve as they do.
Their bedroom is never just a bedroom. It's where they sleep, sure. But it's also where they relax, where they get time to themselves to think, it's where they study and it's a private place to socialise with friends, there or over the phone. Sofa beds have the flexibility to transform the room's purpose as and when it's required. Bedroom to hangout it's incredibly simple, and usually it allows room for a desk and desk chair as well, so you've got an instant study. Hey, you've even made it a break room with the possibility of a quick nap as well!
When the time comes for your teenager to move on, the sofa bed doesn't have to go too. If you do what I suggested at the beginning of the article and think ahead, then you'll have just inherited an awesome sofa bed for guests in your own study, living room or conservatory (or rent the room out!).
